Latest Work: Blue Crab
Crabs, like oysters, are a big part of the fishing and seafood scene where I live. I’m one of the funny few that like most seafood, but I can’t normally eat it if it looks like the animal…crab and lobsters are at the top of that list for me. This work is part of a new direction that I feel my artwork is taking, and that is that it was done entirely on a computer. Yes, I purposefully created it to still look similar to traditional media. I don’t hide that it’s done digitally, in fact, I’m very proud of it, and have already happily talked about it with people who buy my art at the local markets. It’s been met with overwhelming praise, and here I was concerned that purists would say “it isn’t art”. Perhaps the times are changing, or I just haven’t met the purists, yet.
